The Arlington Concert Band (ACB), a program of Arlington Community Learning in Arlington, Virginia, is a wind ensemble made up of more than 50 professional music educators and dedicated, talented amateur musicians.  We perform regularly throughout the community and play an assortment of music including marches, show tunes, and classical arrangements. The ACB is made up of musicians from a variety of backgrounds—from lawyers to IT professionals to retirees—but we are all united around the ACB’s mission:

  • Bring a mix of family friendly, professional music to the community for all to enjoy!
  • Provide an outlet for members of the Arlington community to make playing music a lifelong activity.

Rehearsals are held weekly during the school year on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Washington-Liberty High School in Ballston.  Membership is open without audition to all musicians, dependent on instrumentation needs; please contact the band for availability.

While you’re here, why not check out some of our past performances as well?

Music Educators

For music educators, the ACB provides the opportunity to keep vital performance skills sharp, exploring repertoire from grade two (challenging elementary level) through grade six (professional level). A full range of rehearsal and conducting techniques are explored during rehearsal, demonstrating best practices for rehearsal and music teaching at all levels.  The collegial atmosphere facilitates the fluid exchange of ideas that help keep teachers enthusiastic and at their best.

Performances

As part of its mission, the ACB performs throughout the community as much as possible. This includes regular formal concerts, small group performances at local events and venues, and cooperative, shared concerts with various Arlington County Public Schools ensembles.

COVID-19 Updates

  1. We continue to strongly encourage all players to be vaccinated and boosted. As a small community organization we do not have the capacity to vet every player’s vaccination status — we can only beg that members of this band take the health and safety of fellow members seriously.
  2. Masks and bell covers are no longer required/encouraged at rehearsal.  That said, if you are more comfortable masking in close proximity to other musicians, there are specialized masks on the market for woodwind and brass players (like this one).
